主要研究领域为非线性偏微分方程及其在图像处理中的应用。长期从事非线性偏微分方程解的存在性和正则性、几何测度论及其应用的研究，在基于PDE与变分法的图像处理问题以及医学图像分割、融合反问题的基础理论与算法研究方面，取得了系列研究成果。在SIIMS、IP、JMIV、IPI、数学学报、应用数学学报、数学年刊等国内外重要学术期刊上发表学术论文50余篇。
